  • Want to honor or remember someone special?  Dedicate the altar flowers to that person one Sunday!  The calendar to sponsor the flower arrangements for the 11 a.m. service is posted on the main bulletin board by Stacy HallWe are in special need of flower sponsors for March.  The cost is $65 for both arrangements (consider sharing the sponsorship with another family!) and you may take them home after worship.
  • Let's start talking about Jesus!  Check out the Holy Gossip! page to learn about this new ministry!
  • Upward Basketball needs you!  With approximately 180 children registered to participate, we need volunteers to referee, present a short devotion at half-time, set up, clean up, run the clock and much more.  Help one week, help all eight weeks, or help however much you can!  Call Mark Shutt at (704) 542-6777 to volunteer!

Ministries

  • The March Love Offering will support Loaves & Fishes which provides direct emergency food assistance to those in need. Make checks payable to Pineville UMC and indicate "For Loaves and Fishes” in the memo line.
  • A training workshop for English as a Second Language (ESL) teachers and assistants will be held at Calvary Church on Friday and Saturday, April 16 -- 17. If you're considering serving in this outreach ministry as a teacher or assistant,  this will be an opportunity to for you to acquire the skills and knowledge necessary to make a valuable difference in the lives of many people in our community. The training will be from 6:30 -- 9 p.m. on Friday and from 8:30 a.m. -- 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. The cost of the session is $50, but will be paid by the Outreach Area's ESL budget. If you're interested in helping with ESL or have questions about this training, contact Laura Burba as soon as possible to reserve your space.
  • Join the Golden Pines for an overnight tour of Springtime in Wilmington, N.C., April 22 -- 23!  A $50 deposit and space reservation are due to Patty Mills by March 15.  Don't delay -- space is limited!
  • Pineville UMC will send a building team to the Gulf Coast from October 10 -- 16, 2010, to assist with ongoing recovery from Hurricane Katrina in partnership with the Mississippi United Methodist Disaster Response and Katrina Recovery. All volunteers are welcome!  You don't need to be experienced in construction to go to Gulfport, Miss., with us!  We'll also need two or three kitchen volunteers. An organizational meeting will be scheduled later, but contact Jeff Mills or David Eaker with questions.

 

Music

  • Adults (18 and older) are invited to join a liturgical dance class led by Koh Herlong. It will be held on Tuesdays, March 16, 23 and 30, at 7 p.m. The group will dance at the 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. worship services on Easter Sunday, April 4. For more information or to register, contact Jane Shutt.

  • Quail Hollow Middle School needs you!  This school has a 64-percent free and reduced lunch student population and 19 identified homeless families.  The school's Parent-Teacher-Student Association (PTSA) is reaching out to the community to help these students succeed.  What can you do?  Become a montor or tutor or provide school supplies, clothing or some family support.  Contact Kay Kulesa, vice president of ways and means of the PTSA, at 704-806-7253 to learn more.
  • Blood Done Sign My Name, a recently released motion picture based upon the book by the same name by historian
    Timothy Tyson, is now showing in our area. Filmed in N.C., the movie tells the true story of the
    1970 murder of Henry Marrow, an African American man in Oxford, N.C., and the civil unrest that followed. Tyson,
    son of a United Methodist minister who served in Oxford during the turmoil, reveals a situation that tested
    the faith of many during those days. Our bishop and cabinet are encouraging churches to see this film and
    have opportunity for dialogue after viewing.
  • Job Seekers of North Carolina need look no further for assistance! The Share Network Resource Directory is an exciting program that helps job-seekers find the right job. This valuable, user-friendly tool for JobLink Career Centers, non-profits and the public is a state-wide, web based directory consisting of various service providers.

United Methodist Men 

  • March 11:  Lace up some of those two-toned shoes and practice your spin as the UMM get set to enjoy Bowling Night at AMF Bowling Center (4501 South Boulevard)!  The fun begins at 6:30 p.m. and $20 will cover your game, pizza and soft drinks. Meet at the alley on this Thursday.

Worship

  • As you enter the church each week during Lent, stop by the Lenten Station in the Gathering Area. Let us prepare our hearts by removing attitudes that may hinder our praise and worship of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior as we anticipate the celebration of Easter.
